watercolour artist
Award winning plein air painter
Mark Buck, studied for a degree in illustration at Bower Ashton Art College in Bristol. He has illustrated for magazines, newspapers, books, advertising hoardings and played guitar at the Jazz Cafe in London, on occasion with Bo Diddley.
Mark paints watercolour in an energetic and loose style, mostly plein air. He uses St Cuthbert’s Millford 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper or Moleskine sketchbooks.
His paintings often feature early morning or evening light with strong shadows and atmospheric distances.
Mark is represented by galleries on the Isle of Wight, Swanage and Petworth. He has exhibited with The Royal Watercolour Society, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, Plas Brondanw Gallery and The TALP Open Exhibition at Patchings at which he picked up a couple of awards.

I am very proud to say three of my plein air paintings have been selected for exhibition at the Oriel Brondanw Open in Snowdonia. Plas Brondanw was the home of Clough Williams-Ellis the architect of Portmeirion, it now houses an stunning art space and a garden that has to be seen. This is their first open and promises to be a superb exhibition.
